Talk with the student about the word “compromise.” After explaining the meaning, ask if they have ever had to compromise. While previewing the book, make predictions about the store and what seems to be wrong. Use the Compromise Sheet to write about the story. Use the Compromise Letters to make new words and sounds. Use a white board or journal to write down the new words. Apply the story to a future situation where compromise will be needed.
