Welcome to the First Edition of Tutor Tuesday!

Please click the video below for a brief introductory message from the National Intergenerational Tutoring Director, Mary Click.

As Mary shared in the video, the Oasis tutoring team appreciates the time and compassion you have given to your Oasis student this past school year.  Being a consistent role model to your student is a priceless gift to the school district, teachers, parents and most of all your student. We know you are missing being with them in person and of course they miss your tutoring sessions (and being in school) too.

For us to stay in touch with our tutors, we will be offering a new communication each Tuesday to share fun videos, educational websites, book reviews and other resources to prepare you for the return of tutoring to the school districts.

This is a new method of communicating with our tutors and we want it to be something you look forward to and value each week.  At the end of each edition, you will have the opportunity to offer your feedback and share your suggestions for upcoming weeks. Perhaps you have found a fun game or new book that you have shared with your student or you discovered a fun website. Please feel free to let us know what ideas and resources you have found or are interested in.

Covid-19- What do kids want to know?

Here’s a great page from NPR that explains what Covid-19 is all about, in a kid-friendly comic.

During this historical time in our country, children’s book authors have been spending their time interacting with their littlest fans.

Here are a few of our favorite author sites:

Mo Willems invites YOU into his studio every day for his LUNCH DOODLE. Learners worldwide can draw, doodle and explore new ways of writing by visiting Mo’s studio virtually once a day for the next few weeks. Grab some paper and pencils, pens, or crayons and join Mo to explore ways of writing and making together.

Kate Messner has compiled videos  here featuring authors and illustrators sharing their work and resources to keep children engaged.

What favorite children’s book authors have you found to be entertaining?
