Session plan for interest level: PK-3

Details

Ask your student if they ever see squirrels near their home? Let them predict what might happen in the story. Why do you think the squirrels squabbled? Cut out the two squirrel puppets. If you’re able, bring two popsicle sticks (or a straw, pencil, etc.) on which you can tape the puppets. Reread the story and encourage your student to hold up the squirrel who is being talked about. Explain what a ‘moral’ of a story is, and see if you can help them determine what ‘moral’ the author was trying to convey. If time allows, use the puppets to act out dialogue with a goal of making each other laugh.
