Session plan for interest level: PK-3

Details

Ask your students about friendships. What is a friend? What types of activities do friends do together? After reading through page 11, ask your student how each character is feeling. What clues helped them decide? Make two columns in your student’s journal. Label the left side with the title of “Cheese” and the right with the title of “Mac.” Have your student identify and list what made each character a good friend. Use the “Mac and Cheese Rhyme Time” handout to record pairs of rhyming words found in the book. If time allows, write ten sets of rhyming words on twenty notecards. Use the cards to play ‘Memory.’
