Ask your student what they know about Kwanzaa. Discuss the meaning of ‘nonfiction.’ Explain that many non-fiction books can be read in any order, and then encourage the student to read the section that is most interesting to them. Be sure to read pages 14-17 about the seven principles of Kwanzaa and lighting the seven candles. Help the student assemble the ‘Kinara-7 Principles Coloring Sheet’ and write about each of the 7 principles. You can use this as a multi-session book.
