The tutor can discuss characteristics and relationships that make people matter to one another by citing the various relationships to parents, teachers and friends. While reading, the tutor can ask the student about a time someone laughed at them or made them feel less than. The student may/may not want to share with the tutor as to why they thought that happened. Additional activities include creating leaves from objects around school like construction paper or magazines. The student might also write a letter to someone who matters to them using the activity sheet, “A Letter for You.”
