In this session plan, the tutor can open a discussion with the student regarding how they felt when they have been away from home or in a place where they did not know the language. The student can then journal based upon the prompt, ‘It feels like home when _____.” One additional activity in the session plan includes having the student create two columns, one in which they will write all the Spanish words that are included in the book. In the other column, after looking for context clues, they will write what the word means in English.
